Appam Podi is an authentic rice flour specially formulated to make traditional South Indian appams – fluffy, soft pancakes with a crispy edge.
This mix offers a perfect balance of fine rice flour, allowing you to make delicious, authentic appams in no time. Ideal for breakfast or dinner, served with curries, coconut milk or chutneys.

This product is packaged and/or stored in a facility that also processes products containing wheat, nuts, peanuts, mustard, celery, gluten, sesame, shellfish, soy, sulphite, fish and molluscs. Despite all precautions, this product may contain traces of these allergens.
Storage advice
Keep in a cool, dark and dry place. After opening, transfer the contents to an airtight container.
Preparation
- Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of Appam Podi to 1 cup of water (make sure the batter does not become too thin).
- Boil it until it becomes a thick pulp.
- Grind 1/2 coconut with a pinch of cumin and 1 to 2 onions.
- Then add the whole to 1/2 kg Appam Podi with sufficient water and a pinch of yeast.
- Mix this into a smooth batter.
- Then let it ferment for 10 to 12 hours (place it in a warm place to ferment overnight to make nice appam).
- Add salt to taste if desired and make delicious appam.
