Idiyappam, also known as string hopper, nool puttu or noolappam, chomai, indiappa is a rice noodle dish from the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Idiyappam is usually eaten for breakfast or dinner.

It consists of rice flour pressed into noodles, woven into a flat disk and steamed.

Storage advice

Store in a cool and dry place. After opening, transfer contents to an airtight container. Shelf life up to 2 years after production date.

Use

  1. Mix 3 cups of Aachi idiyappam Powder with 4 1/2 cups of boiling water and salt to taste.
  2. Mix well and knead into a smooth dough.
  3. Pass the dough through an idiyappam press and place on the tin which has been greased with oil.
  4. Then steam the idiyappam until done and serve it warm.
